so we tried a place we'd never been in the city: a floating restaurant between piers 39 & 41.
from bart, to muni streetcar, to ferry shuttle, to the lighthouse of forbes island, meeting husband's friend from arizona and his wife.
in two words: delightful & unique
completely forgot to take a picture of the lighthouse but backdrop at this hour was quite nice. the restaurant floats next to the sea lion colony at pier 39. it does rock with the shifting of the water, but not too bad.
pictures were not readily had inside, nor did i want to spend my time futzing with my phone. but imagine captain hook's private quarters, complete with arms and paintings, an open fire pit, portholes that are indeed windows to the watery depths, lots of wood paneling, with a decent four course menu to boot.
one of my favorite features: the ladies room, actually the owner's private stateroom bursting with ephemera.
up, up into the lighthouse
and a lovely view
the streetcar lines were long and delayed so we walked back to pier 1 along the promenade - quite nice! the walk felt refreshing after four courses and wine.
definitely a recommended spot for something a bit different. :)
